About this event

The 2026 3D Retail Coalition Grand Challenge invited startups and academic teams to reimagine the human–technology relationship in digital product creation, focusing on the skills, roles, workflows, and learning systems that let people work effectively with 3D, AI, and digital product systems at scale.

After two competitive rounds of judging, winners were selected in the Start-up and Academic categories.

Join us for a free-to-attend, virtual live share out as this year's winning teams present their research and solutions directly to the PI community.

fashionINSTA (Start-up Category)
An AI infrastructure layer that turns a sketch into a manufacturable pattern in minutes, generating tech packs and scoring feasibility. Rather than replacing patternmakers, it encodes and preserves their reasoning, capturing the judgment behind a seam or curve, not just the finished file, as master pattern engineers retire faster than they can be replaced.

Oklahoma State University (Academic Category)
A 16-week certificate programme that builds the critical thinking, technical literacy, and decision-making needed to lead in digitally-assisted design environments, rather than teaching platform-specific procedures. Its Critical Auditing methodology and five-stage validation workflow train designers to catch AI-generated design failures before physical sampling begins, closing the gap between powerful digital tools and the human judgment needed to use them well.
